Description

Please note that Online Zoom Classes are EXACTLY like in – person classes, in the sense that they are offered live and are not recorded. Please make sure the time works for you. We will not offer refunds for schedule clashes.

Instructor: Bea Moore

You don’t need a full rally ring to build strong rally skills. In this class, you’ll practice rally by adapting a course to the space you actually have.

Each week’s course will focus on the skills needed to perform that week’s individual signs. The goal is to build fluency and understanding of the skills behind the signs, rather than simply practicing a particular category of foundation skills. Each week, you will be provided with a course featuring selected Novice and Advanced signs. It will also include a bonus mini-course featuring Excellent or Master signs, giving you an opportunity to work with signs from the higher levels as well. As you continue through sessions of this class, you will ultimately have the opportunity to work with all the signs.

You will learn to adapt courses to fit your own training area. If the space is too small for the whole course, choose only some of the signs rather than using them all. You’ll learn how to adjust spacing and design courses that maintain flow and clarity, even in tight quarters. The exercises can be useful whether you are working with a Novice-level dog or looking to develop your own handling skills across a broader range of rally signs.

This class is ideal for you if you want to:

  • Work on rally skills without access to a full ring
  • Learn how to adapt and design rally courses for small spaces
  • Build precision, fluency, and teamwork in limited training areas
  • Develop the skills needed to perform individual rally signs
  • Work with Novice and Advanced signs while also getting occasional experience with Excellent and Master signs

Supplies: Please have a device with a camera (phone, tablet, or computer) and a tripod or stable stand so your full training space, you, and your dog are visible. You’ll need rally signs (printed) or laminated signs, along with rally numbers.

Rally signs and numbers can be downloaded here:

Space requirements:  You’ll need at least 8×10 ft of open space to work 5–6 signs (or a more comfortable 10×28 garage-sized area). Often, simply moving a bit of furniture for class provides plenty of room. Your camera should be positioned so it shows you, your dog, and enough floor space for me to clearly see your training and movement.

Online Class FAQ

WHAT CAN I EXPECT FROM AN ONLINE DOG TRAINING CLASS?  WHAT IS THE CLASS FORMAT?
  • Your instructor (or host) will set up an online classroom using Zoom. Once students enter the classroom and turn on their web camera and microphone, the instructor will be able to see and hear them.
  • You will be able to see your instructor perform a demo with her own dog or play a video for you so that you know how to do or perform a task.
  • Your instructor will give each student some dedicated time in the class to help you through the material, just as she would in an in-person class.
  • Every student in the class will be able to watch one another.
  • Each class will be an hour long, but we might run a few minutes over (in case of delays due to weak connections, etc. ).
WHAT WILL YOU NEED TO ATTEND AN ONLINE CLASS?
  • A laptop /computer / tablet / phone with a working speaker, microphone and camera.
  • A tripod or a stool to place your device.
  • Zoom software from https://zoom.us/ installed on your device.

  • Notebook to take notes.
  • While you don’t need a lot of room, both you and your dog should be able to move around comfortably.

HOW DO I ATTEND THESE CLASSES?
  • Our online classes will be conducted using Zoom
  • You will be mailed a unique link that will take you to the online classroom at the predetermined time.
  • The classroom will be open 5 minutes before class starts, feel free to use these 5 minutes to ensure that your connection is good, you can hear & see the instructor, and that the instructor can see and hear you.
THIS SEEMS COMPLICATED. WILL I BE ABLE TO KEEP UP?

We understand 🙂 All this sounds a lot harder than it really is. The instructors have a lot of experience conducting lessons, as well as being students in other online classes and will be there every step of the way to help you over the technological hump.
