Description
For graduates of the Basic Obedience / class, this 45-minute class builds on the skills learnt in the Basic Manners class.
What is covered:
- Refresher on Basic Manners: Reinforce and solidify the essential behaviors and concepts learned in the Basic Manners class.
- Focusing on the Handler/Owner: Enhance your dog’s ability to stay focused on you, even in challenging situations.
- Dealing with Environmental Distractions: Learn techniques to keep your dog calm and attentive in various environments.
- Polite Greetings: Ensure your dog interacts appropriately with people.
- Basic Loose Leash Walking: Improve your dog’s walking skills for a more enjoyable stroll.
- Recalls: Strengthen your dog’s response when called, ensuring they come back every time.
- Stays: Teach your dog to remain in place, regardless of distractions.
- Husbandry Skills: Practice the essential care routines that make grooming and vet visits stress-free.
Students are recommended to stay at this class level until the dog is able to accomplish the skills for this level.
Prerequisites: Basic Manners class OR previous group training experience elsewhere OR approval of trainer
THIS CLASS IS NOT SUITABLE FOR REACTIVE DOGS If your dog is unable to settle in class within the first two weeks, the instructor will recommend private training
BRING TO CLASS:
- Lots of small, moist treats your dog loves.
- Favorite toy and food filled toy such as Kong.
- Mat (such as a bathmat).
- Flat collar, martingale or harness. (no prong, choke or e-collars allowed)
- 6ft leash (no retractable leash please!)
